Hot For Teacher

Leave it to me to take the most respectable and refined piece of clothing and turn it into something tawdry.  Musashi-Do has a reputation for fine crafted, hand-drawn clothing for men and women.  Each item intricately created by designer Shiryu Musashi, a fact of which he is very proud.  The pride he takes in his work shines through in every piece, including his recent release for women, The InfiniTie Shirt.

On first glance it’s clearly a quality piece, featuring the same thought out lines and textures as all of his pieces.  It’s also seemingly a conservative piece.  Immediately upon looking at it I thought to pair it with slacks, or a high-quality system skirt;  Something professional and refined.  But alas, that just wasn’t fun enough for me.  So when I thought outside the box, I kicked up the heat and put together an unexpected and appealing look from these beautiful tops.

Who says a collar and tie can’t be sexy??

The InfiniTie Shirt gets it’s name from it’s unique tie feature.  This particular tie has a built in script that allows for texture changing.  The base is black, however if you have another shirt that uses the InfiniTie, you can wear the HUD from that shirt and change the texture.  This works across both men’s and women’s ties for many different options.  The InfiniTie Shirt comes in two different color packs and each shirt is also sold separately.

Classic Pack – Black, Grey, Light Blue, Pink White

Trendy – Blue, Purple, Red, Teal, Hot Pink

Shirt layers include midriff showing, tucked, and untucked.

Bad Kitty!

Clothes are a fascinating thing. No, really, they are. We use our wardrobe at varying times to either express our personality, feel comfortable, look sexy, appear wealthy, keep warm, stay cool, be whimsical, pretend to be someone else, give the illusion of intelligence…. The whole concept of clothing and fashion has so many dimensions that it really couldn’t be anything less than fascinating.

And there are some items that just stand out at you, that you have to have… that cry out “BUY MEEEEEE!!!  Wear me!!! Take me hooooome!!!”, even if it goes against the “typical” choices you make for your day to day attire.

The Feles Mala set from *elymode* is absolutely one of those outfits.  Feles Mala (Bad Kitty) combines the hand-drawn, high quality textures and details that we come to expect as discerning fashionistas, mixed with a daring sex appeal that makes you feel just the right amount of naughty.  Long gone are the days of sexy clubwear or boudoir pieces that lack richness and luster… who needs that when *elymode* gives you this…

As always, designer Elysium Eilde gives you plenty of options.  You can get the entire outfit including pants, tights, corset, top, corset, sheer top, and arm warmers (each of which comes in every layer imaginable for endless possible combinations), or you can grab the pieces you love most individually.  Don’t worry, she didn’t skip on the layer options in those packs either.  I made sure to show each color with a different possible wear option, but, there are plenty I missed.  Oh, and did I mention options? :p

My interpretation of this outfit was reminiscent of Velma Kelly from Chicago, one of my favorite characters.  And thus, I had to play out my little moment of fantasy…

So if you’re a high-class fashion model, a simple clothes fiend, or a naughty little kitteh… you really can’t pass this one up.

*elymode* Feles Mala comes in Blue, Purple, Red, Teal, Green, and Magenta.  Each item comes in multiple layers for countless wearable options.  Grab the entire outfit, or individual pieces to create your own look.

A Tiny Slice of Heaven

Many of you know, that I recently found myself homeless and pathetic. And so, I took advantage of the tier-free 512 sqm parcel offered through Linden Lab and found myself a teeny, tiny, little home over on the mainland. Colleen likes to tell me I moved to the ghetto. *glares*

Sadly, there are not a lot of options for such a small parcel with just 117 prims. In fact, I wouldn’t have even been able to do my last blog of just ONE room on that parcel. But, it seemed my luck was about to change.

I recently made the acquaintance of Yelo Uriza, furniture designer and owner of ARIA, a modern home furnishings store with some yummy things to adorn the homes of those of you with plentiful prims. *sobs*

Yelo also has another project with the extremely talented builder, Mike Denneny; a transplant from the teen grid who has impressed the likes of great builders like Patch Thibaud and Scope Cleaver. Yelo and Mike have a prefab and furniture collaboration called Pure Design, and their newest Pure Design release was EXACTLY what a girl like me needed for my tragic homeland. A low-prim, fully furnished skybox, named “The Echo”, made to fit perfectly on a 512 sqm parcel.

I admit it, I was skeptical at first when she told me. Any of the other tiny homes I’ve encountered (especially furnished) have been bland at best, and like a kindergarten art project at worst. But lo and behold… I rezzed the house… and out poured a healthy dose of awesome.

To start with, it’s not a perfectly square, basic, standard box. We’ve got curves, we’ve got window accents, we’ve got a door. Oh, but not just any door.  We’ve got a spacecraft-esque, drop-down door with built in stairs, that when folded up and viewed from inside, simply look like a clever built-in shelf or sculpture.

And from the inside we see they made excellent use of space.  The essentials of any SL studio apartment, including the television and built in shelf.  Even with low-prim style in mind, they don’t fail in adding in colorful accents like plants and a couple of sculpted coffee mugs on the table.

Unlike many over-sized beds you find in SL, they made a perfectly proportioned, round bed to go in the corner.  Don’t be fooled by it’s size though, because this bed is packed FULL of animations.  Not just bow-chicka-wow-wow animations (though it has those too) but it runs the full gamut of couples, friends, and individual animations.  I’d demonstrate some of the naughty for you, but alas, I can’t seem to get a man into my bed.  *sighs*  So my favorite pose? This one below, appropriately called “Laze”.

The lights are functional, as are the blinds, including the ceiling blinds that allow for some skylight.  And as though our fun little bed wasn’t enough to make this house special, the couch is full of it’s own surprises.

The sofa has 5 cushions, each equipped with it’s own set of unique poses (my favorite above)… AND… it’s scripted for color change as well.

The whole house is set up with customization in mind.  While the furniture is not modifiable (which is standard), the floors and walls ARE.  So you can decorate to your heart’s content with your own wallpapers and floor textures.

I can’t say anything negative about The Echo; it’s so much more than I’ve come to expect from anything made for land so small, and I think (finally) Colleen might just have to stop taunting me for my lack of a luxury home, because this skybox is all the luxury I could ask for.

You can find The Echo, both furnished (a refreshing 88 prims) and unfurnished (just 44 prims), at Pure Design , along with a beautiful selection of home furnishings at ARIA.

Home Style Holiday Remix

Chances are, many of you ran out to grab the beautiful holiday Morgan set from The LOFT to place in your living rooms for a festive winter season. And as much as you love this shimmering, blue and white, frosty little set, you know that it must… come down.

But WAIT! There is a reason this set was made in blue and white instead of a festive (and let’s face it… obnoxious) red and green. VERSATILITY. So before you pack up your Morgan set that you’ve written off as a one-use set, take a look at this.

Obviously you’ll have to pack up your sparkly tree, the presents (which surely you opened anyway), and the stockings. And as much as I LOVE the pretty blue chair, the snowflake pillow whispered to me, “I need a year long nap.” BUT, there is an exact chair made with a floral print pillow available at The LOFT if you wish to incorporate it into your own living rooms.

But what we have left is a gorgeous fireplace filled with many fun poses for singles and couples (you see me here writing this blog on my little laptop, of course), and a slew of fun accessories that distinguishes The LOFT as a cut above the rest.

Add in elements from other room sets from The LOFT, including my favorite, The Wisteria Living Room (sofas, bookshelves, and ottomans), as well as other popular items and you have a beautiful space using the items you couldn’t bear to part with from The Morgan.

And of course I can’t leave you without a  Look of the Day:

Skin – The Abyss Lila LaRue_Porcelain [Mauvelous]
Eyes – L. Fauna +Allure+ Blue 1
Hair – fri.day Yelena (Anxious Blonde)
Shirt – fri.day V-Neck Sweater (Wine)
Belt – Elate! Ana’s Owl Belt (White)
Skirt – *elymode* Angle-waist Skirt (Black)
Boots – Bax Coen Designs Prestige Boots – Brown Suede Pack (Tan)

All Furnishings from The LOFT.

Into The Abyss

I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions over the last couple of days regarding the new lil larue skin from The Abyss.  I was fairly certain I wasn’t going to like it because the older female skins weren’t the most flattering on me.  Of course I had to see what the debate was all about, and if we were looking at some good, bad, or ugly.

And…. Hooray, it’s good!  I found the skin to be really smooth and soft, which is a switch from the previous woman’s skins that tend to be a bit harsher; The kind of skins meant for an ass-kicking roleplayer.  It looks like this time around, they decided to cater to the typical SL’er, and this skin is actually pretty.

More than pretty really… the skin is beautiful.  As I adjusted my face a bit to accommodate the features of the skin, I realized that the textures actually resemble my own in real life.  And when I had a finished look, I looked strikingly similar to Parker Posey (who I think is kinda adorable) with the hair above from !lamb.

If you are having trouble with the nose like I’ve seen some others mention, the fix really is very simple.  I narrowed my bridge width a touch along with the width of the nose as a whole.  This removes the bulbous effect a lot of girls are getting when trying on the skin.  I know some people just do NOT want to adjust their shape, but I adjust for every skin I buy so that I get an optimal look.

One of my favorite things about the skin is that if I’d like (and I do), I can be blonde again! I adore a skin with versatility so that I can look great as either a blonde….

Or a brunette…

And one of the most important things I consider when buying a new skin, is how it will look with my favorite hair.

fri.day? Check.

Maitreya? Check.

!lamb.? Check.

Truth? DOUBLE CHECK!

However, for now, it’s been so long since I’ve worn blonde hair, I just can’t bring myself to take it off.  And so I leave you with my look of the day below featuring my new regular skin from The Abyss along with some of my other favorite items.

The Unsuspecting Blog Star

I love stumbling across people wearing “Please Inspect Me Orbs”.  I mean, I think it takes a truly amazing person to wear this multi-layer invisible attachment that completely envelops their avatar just to get our attention when we get our cameras stuck on this unseen barrier.  And as always, when I discover that someone is wearing one of these “Please Inspect Me Orbs”, I most certainly do exactly that, and I derender their very functional pile of prims and take a look at what they are wearing so I can share it with all of you.  Just like I’m sure she had hoped would happen by wearing this amazing invention.

So here is Vanes.  I found her at The Abyss tonight and I dedicate this post to her.

As you can see, Vanes is VERY original and difficult to compare to when it comes to creative style.  Her hair from Truth (which I’m sure none of you have heard of) would appear to be the perfect compliment to this sex-kitten outfit complete with a buckled corset from right where we stood at The Abyss, and a pair of black boots from Crave.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out where her pants and skin were from, but if I had to guess on the skin I’d have to go with Laqroki.  Again, probably not something you’ve ever heard of being that Vanes is clearly a one-of-a-kind, entirely original girl in terms of style.  The look is most certainly complete with her prim nails from Love Soul.

Now, although I wouldn’t say this overall look is a complete hit (which makes you wonder why she’d be so concerned that someone might try to STEAL her style), I certainly would say that each individual piece is of high quality and worth taking a look at.  Maybe add a splash of color to your own rendition.

Happy Holidays From The LOFT!

As I’ve said before, I love presents.  I love gifts.  I also love furniture.  I also love The LOFT.  I also love Johnny Depp… oh wait, that’s another subject.

Colleen Desmoulins, creator of the beautiful furniture you’ve come to love at The LOFT, has a special group gift she’s ready to bestow upon you!

It’s easily argued that beyond the great quality of The LOFT items, the best part is actually the creativity and the accessories that go with the central furniture pieces.  This gift is an adorable collection of accessory items including a set of two suitcases, a jug filled with daisies, two journals, and a lantern. I took a photo both during the day and at night so you could see the lovely glow the lantern casts.  My personal favorite piece though, has to be the pink and white toile jug. This pattern is just so beautiful and delicate, but the whole set pretty much makes me squeeeeeee!

All of these items will be delivered to The LOFT subscriber group on December 19th (psssst that’s TOMORROW), so make sure you get down to the main store location and subscribe so that you get this gift.  She WILL remove it at MIDNIGHT from the subscriber history, so don’t wait!!

Ode to Kurvy

I love when I discover something in my inventory that I didn’t even realize I had, and this dress is the perfect example.  Kurvy Rhode Ahead is from Abstract Reality, a newer and small (but growing) store from designer Leilani Muircastle.

After putting on this flirty, red party dress named after Kurvy Rhode (model, marketing pro, awesome chick extraordinaire), I decided to just go all out for Kurvy and slipped into the Kurvy Pumps from Nardcotix, also named for Miss Rhode.

The look on my face? Well that’s just me saying “Oops! I swear I didn’t mean to drop your love letter in the fire!”  And that’s just for Kurvy too… <3

We’re Off To See the Lindens…

I logged in to Second Life today and was still wearing yesterday’s shoes, the free gift from Nardcotix, Kurvy Ruby Slippers. Not paying much attention to the shoes, I put on “The Tara” from Novi as something simple to wear while I planned my next photo, and I swear I got teleported to OZ! The periwinkle blue dress with the ruby slippers were so Dorothy-like I decided it was too good not to share with everyone.

So, to go with today’s free gift from Nardcotix, Novi has The Tara up for FREE for TODAY ONLY so that you can get the same adorable Dorothy-esque look that I stumbled upon. And, you know, you can wear it with other shoes too.

TODAY ONLY! Sale will cease at midnight so come and get it!

Novi is only in business for THREE more days, so make sure you fill your collection before it’s gone for good! 50% off everything in the store, and The Vixie is still up for just $1L.
